Equibase Company LLC is a general partnership between the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of
North America (TRA) and The Jockey Club. The company was formed in 1991
to provide the Thoroughbred
racetracks of North America with a uniform, industry-owned database of racing information and statistics.
That goal was achieved in 1998 when Equibase became the sole data collection agency and
provider of racing data to the Daily Racing Form.
Through a network of chartcallers, Equibase collects past performance information from all
Thoroughbred racetracks in North America. The information is processed and stored in the company's
state-of-the-art database in Lexington, Ky. where it is made available for retrieval in support of
the day-to-day operations of the more than 140 tracks and 1,400 simulcast outlets across the continent;
the industry's daily publisher, Daily Racing Form; a host of electronic value-added
resellers; and the industry's major interactive wagering services.
The company also serves the sport's fan base through its web site, equibase.com,
which offers a wide array of value-added handicapping information and services geared toward every level of
handicapper. Among the products available are race programs which present handicapping information in
an easy-to-understand format for new and existing fans. These supplemental pages were originally
developed in conjunction with the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), to which Equibase is the
Official supplier of racing information and statistics.
The Equibase Virtual Stable®, the exclusive notification service of the NTRA, delivers
real-time entry, workout and result notices for horses that fans wish to follow and track. As a convenience
for users, active links are included within the e-mail notifications and place users just a click away from
obtaining a wealth of useful information, including programs and past performances. Virtual Stable® also
features a race series notification service that allows fans to monitor the progress of leading contenders for
the Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup races in the months leading up to those events.
The July 2000 acquisition of TrackMaster, a premier provider of electronic
handicapping information through its TrackMaster brand, further
strengthened Equibase's ability to serve the
needs of all handicappers as well as the burgeoning interactive marketplace. Equibase continues to work with
the leading interactive wagering providers to spur development of this emerging market by serving the
information needs of their growing customer bases.
In 2008, Equibase distributed dividends totaling $3.6 million to its partners -
Equibase Holding Partners, LP and The Jockey Club Racing Services.
