Equibase Handicapping Tournament Official Rules
Notice: This contest is subject to these Official Rules and any other rules set expressly referenced herein. Players agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Equibase, which are final on all matters pertaining to this contest. Equibase reserves the right to change these Official Rules at any time, in its sole discretion.
HOW TO PLAY
There may be two types of contests, some starting and ending on the same day and some that are made up of various “rounds”, with the top finishers in each “round” in the series advancing to a final “championship round”.
The goal of any of the contests is to win the most money by making mythical $2 win and place bets in each designated contest race.
For each correct selection a player will earn the $2 win and/or place payoff as if they were making a real money wager. However, there is no real money involved in making these bets and they will not be placed in the pari-mutuel system.
The maximum return on any single race is $42 for Win and $22 for Place.
In any contest, the player with the highest total of all payoffs will be declared the winner.
For single day contests, prizes will be distributed to the top five finishers. For multi-round contests the top five finishers will receive prizes and also advance to the final “championship round”. Additionally, for multi-round contests the top 10 players with the highest total number of winners selected throughout the contest that have not otherwise qualified will advance to the final round, as well as the top 10 players with the highest cumulative bankrolls throughout the contest that have not otherwise qualified.
SELECTIONS
All players must make their selections in advance of post time for the first race of the contest. The cut-off time for making selections will be prominently posted. NOTE: It is strongly recommended that players submit all their selections as early as possible. Players can go back and edit their selections as needed. Equibase will not be responsible for any player's inability to submit selections due to Internet outages, technical difficulties, etc.
Players will select horses by name. For the contest, coupled entries are not one betting interest and a player may only select one part of a coupled entry. Selections as soon as the contest selection process is opened. Typically, this will be one day prior to the contest.
SCRATCHES
If a horse is scratched prior to the start of the race, that horse will be removed from the list of horses available to be selected, but will not be removed from already-submitted contest entry tickets. If a horse selected is scratched and a participant is unable to change/modify their selection before post time, the participant will be given the post time favorite as a substitute selection.
ENTRY / ELIGIBILITY
There is no cost to enter. Players must be 21 years of age or older in order to play. To participate, players must be registered with Equibase. Registration is free. Screen names chosen by the contestant may be changed by Equibase if the company, in their sole discretion, determine the screen name to be inappropriate.

Employees of The Jockey Club family of Companies and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, contractors, directors, employees, advertising agencies, and their respective immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
Entries will only be accepted through equibase.com. A player may not submit more than one entry with different names, addresses, screen names, etc. Equibase as the contest administrator reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any player which Equibase believes has submitted more than one entry in the contest.
Each player will enter the contest and log on using their existing equibase.com id and password
Players will select one horse in each of the contest races by selecting the round button next to the horses’ name. Selections must be made prior to the contest deadlines as outlined above.
Bankrolls will be determined by $2 win and $2 place payoffs. The maximum return on any single race is $42 for Win and $22 for Place.
The official final order of finish according to the host racetrack will determine the payoffs.
In the event that a contest race is cancelled and not run on the scheduled date, regardless of reason, that race will be withdrawn from the contest. Equibase reserves the right to change the contest schedule and rules without notice, or cancel the contest due to unforeseen events.
The Leaderboard will be updated on the equibase.com website as soon as possible at the end of each designated contest race. It is the responsibility of the player to bring any alleged error, issue, or complaint to the attention of Equibase within 48 hours of the end of the contest by sending an email to feedback@equibase.com and describing the alleged error, issue or complaint in detail. If Equibase is not contacted within 48 hours of the end of the contest, Equibase is not responsible for making adjustments to the official order of finish.
In the event there is a tie between two or more players for determining the top five positions in any contest, the following tie breakers will be used (in order): most winners selected, most winners and runners-up selected, most winners, runners-up and third place finishers selected, most top four finishers selected, highest payoff for a winner selected (actual payoff, not capped at $42), highest payoff for a runner-up selected (actual payoff, not capped at $22). At that point, if there is still a tie then the tie will be broken in a random drawing conducted by Equibase, details of which are completely at the discretion of Equibase.
The system logs the time and date each player enters his or her selections.
Each player agrees that Equibase may use his or her name and picture for publicity if they are a prize winner.
ALL MONETARY VALUES STATED ARE IN U.S. DOLLARS.
