A statistical information package highlighting important performance trends on all-weather racing surfaces has been unveiled on equibase.com, Thoroughbred racing’s official source for handicapping information.
The “All-Weather Statistics Package” provides handicappers with a wealth of information for the recently begun Keeneland and Woodbine meets and this season’s upcoming meets on the growing number of all-weather racing surfaces. The package includes sections devoted to individual horses, jockeys and trainers on all North American synthetic surfaces collectively, as well as individually, for the four tracks with all-weather surfaces currently installed. The package also includes sire statistics provided by equineline.com, supplying insight into the impact pedigree may have on a horse’s all-weather performance.
“Synthetic surfaces are a new variable to the handicapping equation, and until now handicappers have had no knowledge base for common questions such as which jockeys and trainers perform best,” said David O’Neill, manager of product development and support for Equibase. “Is pedigree a factor? Do horses switching from turf to all-weather have an advantage? Are track biases an inherent factor? These are the types of things handicappers question, and now are better equipped to answer.”
The All-Weather Statistics Package is available for $20 and will be updated quarterly to reflect the most current racing information.
