Equibase Company LLC today reported that its website, equibase.com, hosted 491,444 visitors on the two days of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, an 8% increase over the 456,793 who visited the site during the two days of the championship event in 2007.
The 2008 figures include a Breeders’ Cup Saturday record of 251,669 visitors on Oct. 25. Total page views over the two-day period in 2008 were 1,872,938.
“Despite the recent decline in racing’s national handle, fan enthusiasm as measured by traffic on equibase.com remains strong, especially for our sport’s premier events,” said Matthew W. McCoy, Equibase’s manager of eBusiness operations and development.
Equibase Company is a partnership between The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America. Through its website, http://www.equibase.com, the company offers an ever-increasing menu of racing information and handicapping products for handicappers of all skill levels.
