# 3 MAGGIE'S CRYPONITE 15/1 |
|
# 5 FLASH AND CLASS 4/1 |
|
|
# 4 COASTLINE GIRL 5/1 |
|
I favor MAGGIE'S CRYPONITE in this competition and is a quite good value bet given the line. Bettors should probably note that this animal runs now going off Lasix today. The Equibase class rating of today's race is much lower than her last contest. FLASH AND CLASS - Has the look of a money-making play. This bunch is much less demanding than the last one she faced. COASTLINE GIRL - Her chances to score are much better today facing this less demanding group. Will most likely compete well in the early pace clash which bodes well with this group of horses.

Lone Star - Race #8 - Post: 4:51pm - Claiming - 7.5 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $11,000 Class Rating: 77
Rating:
#4 MISS PARTY ARTIE (ML=7/2)
#2 ZALISA (ML=4/1)
#8 UP IN CLASS (ML=10/1)
MISS PARTY ARTIE - Strong return on investment for this jock and trainer duo. That last effort must not have been too hard on this filly for her to be able to race again so quickly. Filly has shown some pace. This shorter trip should be better for her. If you review the PP's for this horse, you'll see she has recorded the top speed rating at the distance and surface. A repeat race in this event and this horse has a superb chance to win. ZALISA - The ROI when Chacaltana and Broberg team up is fantastic. Horses out of the barn of Broberg have been great on the turf. Should perform well. This filly is in nice form, having run a strong race on Apr 20th, finishing first. Recent speed ratings show dominant pattern of improvement. UP IN CLASS - Based on this mare's recent efforts, she should profit from today's shorter distance. This mare was sharp enough to post a 'top two' workout recently. I think she's ready for today's event. When Taylor and Bravo join forces on animals the ROI has been fantastic at +500. Took a significant drop in class rating last out at Sam Houston. Returning to a similar class level in this event. Should perform well.
Vulnerable Contenders: #5 SWEETSFORTHESWEET (ML=9/2), #1 UNEEDA BISCUIT (ML=6/1), #3 I'M A ROCKET GIRL (ML=8/1),
SWEETSFORTHESWEET - Extended time off, then came back and finished sixth. Tough to expect much better today. Hard to put any cash on this mare on the front end. Likes to end up on the board though. UNEEDA BISCUIT - Hasn't hit the board in any short distance affairs lately. Not likely to see her doing it this time either. The rating last time around the track doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's event. Mark this mount as a likely underpriced equine. Recent deteriorating Equibase speed figures of 79/66/55 give an indication that this animal may be going off form. I'M A ROCKET GIRL - 8/1 odds isn't enough for this entrant when looking at the most recent efforts.
GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - ZALISA - My calculations and statistics say it usually takes a thoroughbred a couple of races after a layoff to get back into proper racing condition. That's just what we have here, so I have lofty expectations for this horse.STRAIGHT WAGERS: | #4 MISS PARTY ARTIE is going to be the play if we are getting 7/2 or better |

Mountaineer - Race #6 - Post: 9:05pm - Claiming - 5.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $8,400 Class Rating: 71
Rating:
#6 OFFICER AND A LADY (ML=5/1)
#8 SAPONETTA BOBO (ML=3/1)
#4 DIRECT TO HOWDY (ML=10/1)
OFFICER AND A LADY - You always have to be on the prowl for bankroll building jockey/handler combinations; we have it right here. I really like that most recent contest on May 7th at Mountaineer where she finished third. SAPONETTA BOBO - Baird brings her back again. I advise you stay with this hot filly. A repeat of that most recent performance on May 6th where she earned a speed figure of 70 looks high enough to score in this event. DIRECT TO HOWDY - This filly should give a strong account of herself in today's event.
Vulnerable Contenders: #9 SEMINOLE LADY (ML=4/1), #3 NOTHINGLEFTTOLOSE (ML=9/2), #1A TIA SILVIA (ML=6/1),
SEMINOLE LADY - This animal doesn't have a conquering make-up. Repeatedly finishes near the winner. Has been conquered as the favorite twice in a row. A repeat is probably in store. Pace makes the race. Hard for this front-runner to be able to handle the pressured pace from the rest of this field. Will not be easy for this racer to beat this field off of that last rating. Not probable to improve enough to run a figure close to today's class rating, so put her on the possibly overvalued contestants list. NOTHINGLEFTTOLOSE - Generally I need a sprinter to have some recent success in sprint races in order to support her. Last raced on August 31st at Presque Isle Downs, finishing seventh. Not likely to advance off of that effort in today's event. Quite unimpressive speed rating last time around the track at Presque Isle Downs at 5 1/2 furlongs. Don't think this less than sharp equine will improve too much in today's race. TIA SILVIA - I find it hard to play this less than sharp equine today. Make her show you something in a short distance event before you wager on her in a race of 5 1/2 furlongs.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: | Bet on #6 OFFICER AND A LADY to win if we can get at least 5/2 odds |
EXACTA WAGERS: | 6 with [4,8] |
TRIFECTA WAGERS: | Box [4,6,8] Total Cost: $6 |

RECOMMENDED CHOICES |

|
# 1 TANIVAN 1/1 |
|
# 2 CARRIETTA 2/1 |
|
|
# 5 BELLEZZA ROSSO 12/1 |
|
TANIVAN is the most respectable bet in this race. Must be given a shot here on the basis of the figs in the speed section alone. Horses who have been prepared to race at this distance and surface by Zulueta have shown strong results lately. Could beat this field given the 94 Equibase speed fig put up in her last outing. CARRIETTA - Wolfendale has this mare racing well and is a decent selection based on the solid Equibase Speed Figures garnered in route races recently. Ran a very strong last race. BELLEZZA ROSSO - Looks strong to be on or close to the front end at the first call. Has to be considered a definite contender on earnings per start at the distance/surface alone.
