Beulah Park - Race #1 - Post: 1:15pm - Maiden Special - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $5,800 Class Rating: 46 Rating: #5 SI LA MIEL (ML=3/1) SI LA MIEL - Trainer Cline moves this thoroughbred down in class ranks to face a weaker level today. Look for a sharp effort given this drop. Finished in the place spot, but easily in the place spot over the third horse. Those types usually run well next time out. This colt is back in a race very quick. This is a great angle - Sprint horses that come back in less than 10 days after a race. A good sign of a sharp and ready racehorse. I like the fact that this colt's last rating, 70, is tops in this field. Vulnerable Contenders: #3 GENERAL COUNTDOWN (ML=5/2), #6 MERCER'S MARK (ML=4/1), #1 SHARPTONGUE DEVIL (ML=6/1), GENERAL COUNTDOWN - Generally I need a sprinter to have some success lately in short distance races in order to wager on him. MERCER'S MARK - Don't think that this colt has value at 4/1 this time around. SHARPTONGUE DEVIL - Don't think that this gelding has value at 6/1 today. GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - SI LA MIEL - Earnings per start is a sign of class. I often play horses like this one that are tops in the group in earnings per start.

# 5 MOON VALLEY BABE 9/2 |

# 6 FT SPECIAL CARTEL 2/1 |
|
I have to consider FISHERS FIRE here. Had one of the most respectable speed figures of this field in his last competition. Exhibits the look of a lucrative play, averaging a solid 72 speed fig which is one of the top in this group of horses. Win percentage one of the most respectable in this group of animals. MOON VALLEY BABE - She has garnered very good figures under today's conditions and should fare well versus this field. She looks very strong in this spot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the midpoint. FT SPECIAL CARTEL - Is a solid contender - given the 83 speed fig from his most recent race. No strangers to the winner's circle, Zamudio and Dealba will almost certainly have this gelding breaking away from the field.

Laurel Park - Race #9 - Post: 4:24pm - Maiden Claiming - 5.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $11,000 Class Rating: 72
Rating:
#6 STAND UP STAN (ML=9/2)
#2 ROSEMONT DRIVE (ML=6/1)
STAND UP STAN - I'm counting on this fine animal to run a good race this time around. ROSEMONT DRIVE - The recent bullet 48.6 work should put this gelding on track for today's effort. This horse ran outside the top 3 at Laurel Park last out on a track listed as good. He should improve today on a non-sloppy track.
Vulnerable Contenders: #4 APRIL'S FOIL (ML=8/5), #10 MAZZARD (ML=6/1), #8 BARRY MEATBALL (ML=8/1),
APRIL'S FOIL - Hasn't been on the Laurel Park oval in the last few weeks. Cause for some concern. MAZZARD - Really don't think the last speed rating was earned legitimately. The wet conditions may have lead to such a high rating. BARRY MEATBALL - This gelding showed little last time out. Finished sixth in his most recent effort with a somewhat easily forgotten speed rating. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to prove victorious after that in this field.

Race #7 - Rating = 3
#11 Farmer Giles - Fair odds 2/1#8 Cranky Jack - Fair odds 7/2
#4 Ten Devils / #10 Mr. Make Believe - Fair odds 7/2
Exactas: 11 over 2,4,5,7,8,9,10 and (reverse) 2,4,5,7,8,9,10 over 11
#5 is Nextdoorneighbor, #2 is Confucius Junior, #7 is Romeo Royale, #9 is Kumiva
Farmer Giles is a KEY bet on the day owing to the fact he's won five of his last six and missed by just a neck in the other. Shipped from Northern Cal. by exceptional trainer John Martin, this gelding who is a perfect 2 for 2 off the claim by John cuts back from a route to a sprint and gets a great outside post to win once again, having run 2nd down this hillside course previously in March, 2010, in a much tougher open optional allowance event, still eligible for this NW1X condition even though he has 7 career wins, tops in the field.
Cranky Jack shows a portentous blinkers on/fast workout pattern that could help him bounce back to the form shown just one before last when winning in a Cal-Bred NW1X allowance race down the hill, also having won on this course at a mile in October so with a decent shot to be competitive in this situation.
Ten Devils and Mr. Make Believe both are trained by Dick Mandella so if we consider one, we should consider the other. Ten Devils rallied from far back to get 3rd, beaten just a length, last out down the hill at the level so might only need slight improvement go be part of the exacta today at the very least, while Mr. Make Believe won his career debut last April here at SA down this specialist's hillside course and comes back from a 3 month rest back in a sprint after 3 longer races following the win, freshened again and proven capable of winning fresh, with a good outside post like the one he won from last spring as well.

# 4 TUTANKHAMUN 5/1 |

MOUNT DOLLBERG looks quite good to best this field. Must be carefully examined here on the basis of the figs in the speed department alone. Has to be given consideration based on the very good speed figure garnered in the last contest. Reliable average Equibase speed figs in dirt route races make this animal a definite contender. LUCKIE CHUCKIE - With a strong 66 average speed fig at the distance, seems well suited for today's race. Posted a strong speed figure in the last race. Can run another good one in this contest. TUTANKHAMUN - Should best this group here, showing strong figs of late. Always difficult to beat Mogge and Prescott working together, winning 17 percent of their races.
