RACE #10 at Saratoga - Saturday, July 23, 2016
Saratoga - Race #10 - Post: 6:18pm - Stakes - 9.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $500,000 Class Rating: 117 Diana S. (Grade 1)
#4 WEKEELA (FR) (ML=7/2)
#1 SANDIVA (IRE) (ML=12/1)
#6 DACITA (CHI) (ML=5/1)
#10 ISABELLA SINGS (ML=8/1)
WEKEELA (FR) - It looks like Castellano had to learn all about this filly on May 30th when riding her for the initial time. Back on board again today. This jock and conditioner have a high win percent together. Brown is great in grass routes. This equine should have no justifications if she doesn't win. Last raced at Santa Anita carrying 6 pounds more. The lower impost in this event should serve her well. This filly has run well at major foreign tracks, and ships in for today's race. Could be tough to beat. SANDIVA (IRE) - Running 1 1/8 miles on the turf, you've have to look at horse's turf figures. This horse has the tops in the bunch. I wouldn't worry too much about the layoff; this mare is ready to run today. Pletcher has an 'uncoupled' entry here. Best to beware the longer priced half. Came home in speedy time last out. A positive sign. This mare gets a weight break of -6 lbs from last race. Could make the difference in this event. This mare recorded a good speed figure of 115 in her last clash. That speed fig should be high enough to score this time out. DACITA (CHI) - This mare has been posting some excellent workout times. It looks like Ortiz had to 'know' this mare on June 10th when riding her for the initial time. Back aloft again today. Horses out of the barn of Brown have been strong on the turf. Should do well in this race. This horse has the class to win the race. A tactical ride by Ortiz, and this one could bound home the winner. ISABELLA SINGS - Have to give this filly a shot. Ran a good outing last out within the last month or so. The ROI when Lopez and Pletcher hook up is terrific. Pletcher moves this one here to Saratoga from Monmouth Park. Looking at the horse's PP lines, she has shown the ability to win at multiple tracks.
Vulnerable Contenders: #2 MISS TEMPLE CITY (ML=3/1), #7 RECEPTA (ML=9/2),
MISS TEMPLE CITY - Finished fourth in her most recent race with a mediocre speed figure. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this bunch. RECEPTA - Have to be leery of the recent trend and awesome speed figure in the June 11th race. It was this mare's top at that distance and this one should bounce today.
