Thoroughbred Safety

Seeking All 2-Year-Old Thoroughbreds for a Free Study to Improve Safety in Horse Racing

Equibase has teamed with Stable Analytics to develop and deploy a wearable biometric sensor to improve early detection of musculoskeletal injuries in Thoroughbred race horses that are foals of 2023. Funded by the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the yearlong study will begin on January 1, 2025 with the goal of assessing the efficacy of a newly developed Equigraph system.

Equigraph includes a wireless biometric sensor that will be mounted on the girth and will record senor data on all speed work from the horse. The companion app and docking station easily record the data and automatically updates the information to the cloud. All equipment needed for participation will be provided for free during the trial period.

  • Task: Record sensor data on all speed work
  • Timeline: January 1, 2025 - Dec 31, 2025
  • Horses: 2-year-old thoroughbreds (foals of 2023)
  • Location: North America

  • First priority to safety analysis after the study
  • Early access to performance analysis during the study

The AAEP study has a high potential to make meaningful impact on the health and safety of horses. Please consider having your 2-year-olds (foals of 2023) participate in this meaningful study!
