# 2 NEUTRAL CAUSE 2/1 |
|
# 1 SPRING SPINNING 9/5 |
|
|
# 3 DECREE 3/1 |
|
I think NEUTRAL CAUSE is a solid choice. She has been racing admirably as of late while recording strong speed figures. SPRING SPINNING - With Bays getting the mount, watch out for this animal. Bays will most likely be able to get this mare to break out early for this race. DECREE - She has solid class ratings, averaging 73, and has to be given consideration in this race. This filly with Ouzts in the irons makes her a key contender.

Ellis Park - Race #1 - Post: 11:50am - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $27,500 Class Rating: 91
Rating:
#3 FAST SOLUTION (ML=8/1)
#2 SALTWATER COWBOY (ML=7/2)
FAST SOLUTION - When this jock and handler work together you have to take a look. Antongeorgi and Holsapple have been wonderful together. This horse's last race was out at Ellis Park in a race with a class number of 97. Dropping significantly in class rating this time out puts him in a solid position in this race. I figure that this shorter distance should help this gelding. Is ranked at the top in earnings per start. A dominant effort in this field will add to the lifetime bankroll. Just check out his last speed rating, 87. That one looks good in this group. SALTWATER COWBOY - This front-runner should be aided by this race's shorter distance. This animal has shown the ability to win on different racing tracks. Making the move from Churchill Downs for today's event, I have to believe he's ready to run.
Vulnerable Contenders: #9 MACHINE GUN MAN (ML=3/1), #6 RAISING KANE (ML=4/1), #7 COMES A TIME (ML=5/1),
MACHINE GUN MAN - I don't normally play a favorite that hasn't been to the track in the last 3 weeks. In this circumstance, this steed's inability to close any ground in the last clash is definitely troubling. RAISING KANE - 4/1 is just too low of a reward to take on most any entrant that has run poorly in back to back outings. COMES A TIME - That was merely not a very good display in the last race.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: | #3 FAST SOLUTION is going to be the play if we are getting 9/5 or better |

# 1 MAITRE D 7/2 |
|
# 7 ROCK TO FAME 15/1 |
|
|
# 5 READIER 3/1 |
|
MAITRE D looks solid to best this field. He has been running quite well and the Equibase Speed Figures are among the best in this group. Formidable average Equibase Speed Figs in dirt sprint races make this pony a solid choice. Had one of the strongest Speed Figures of this group in his last race. ROCK TO FAME - Harney has him trained strongly to break swiftly out of the gate. READIER - Has been running admirably and has among the best speed in the race for today's distance. Is difficult not to consider based on Speed Figures which have been very strong - 82 avg - of late.

Delaware Park - Race #7 - Post: 3:32pm - Optional Claiming - 5.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $47,000 Class Rating: 94
Rating:
#3 NORMANDY HERO (ML=3/1)
#9 TAKE A HINT (ML=2/1)
#2 DOCTOR JEFF (ML=3/2)
NORMANDY HERO - Although I sometimes have doubts about a thoroughbred who flopped as the favorite in his last race, this horse got a solid speed figure and fits well here. I seem to always make money betting Ness horses on the grass. That barn has a powerful win percent for this distance/surface. A repeat of that last performance on Jul 8th where he earned a figure of 99 looks good enough to score in this affair. I think that a sprinter coming off a layoff will usually run his best in the 3rd or 4th start back. This racer coming off a sharp race in the last month is a contender in my book. TAKE A HINT - Shipped in on Jul 11th to take the top prize here. Take right back again. Rosario is up for another contest today after riding on board this horse for the first time on Jul 11th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. Likes to go to the lead and the fact that today is a shorter distance should be favorable. DOCTOR JEFF - When Batista and Magee are put together on horses the ROI has been wonderful at +30.
Vulnerable Contenders: #7 YAHOO OMAR (ML=4/1), #8 RIVER SEINE (IRE) (ML=4/1), #1 ELON (ML=6/1),
YAHOO OMAR - This questionable contender hasn't been near the winner at the finish line of late. This gelding hasn't had any recent good fortune in short distance races. I find it hard to wager on him in this event. RIVER SEINE (IRE) - This questionable contender made little impact last time finishing sixth. Don't see any hint of improvement in today's race. This filly recorded a speed figure in her last affair which likely isn't good enough in today's event. ELON - The speed rating last time out doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the class figure of today's race. Mark this horse as a vulnerable contender. A strong racer that's been running well, but he's been off the track in the mornings recently.
GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - TAKE A HINT - Racing pattern would suggest this horse is in good condition for today's race. Should do well today.STRAIGHT WAGERS: | Putting our cash on #3 NORMANDY HERO to win. Have to have odds of at least 7/2 or better though |
