The Walker Group Picks

# 5 U S FREQUENTFLYER 3/1

# 6 CRYPTO GULCH 6/1

# 3 SHOTENOUGH TO POP 9/2

I think U S FREQUENTFLYER is a formidable choice. He has been running quite well and the speed figures are among the strongest in this group. Has been travelling in the most competitive company of the group recently. Durham has this gelding running well and is a competitive selection based on the very good Speed Figures garnered in route races recently. CRYPTO GULCH - Demonstrates the look of a profitable play, averaging a solid 67 speed rating which is one of the strongest in this field. With a quite good 69 speed figure last time out, will clearly be a factor in this contest. SHOTENOUGH TO POP - This gelding with Giles in the saddle makes him a contender. Likely to see a much improved attempt with the drop.

Louisiana Downs - Race #8 - Post: 6:24pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $11,500 Class Rating: 69

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#4 OPEN INTEREST (ML=8/1)
#10 MISS HALOACTIF (ML=9/5)

OPEN INTEREST - I like this entrant. Should be familiar with this level since she ran against the same type last time around the track at Louisiana Downs. This filly gets a weight break of -6 lbs from last race. Certainly could make the difference in this event. MISS HALOACTIF - I am keen on that recent race on June 13th at Louisiana Downs where she finished third. This should be an easier task than what she was asked last time out against 'open' company. The rider/trainer duo of Smith and Meaux has a strong return on investment together. Notched a nice turf number on June 13th at Louisiana Downs. A repeat in today's race, and this one has a great shot to win.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 FINGER CANDY (ML=2/1), #6 RAMSANELLI (ML=3/1), #5 DIVINE SIS (ML=9/2),

FINGER CANDY - Tough to put any cash on this mare on the top end. Likes to finish in the money though. A 'strong performance bounce' is likely to happen for this horse this time out. May rebound next time. RAMSANELLI - This equine doesn't have a conquering demeanor. Almost always finishes close, but no cigar. Not probable that the speed figure she earned on June 3rd will hold up in this event. DIVINE SIS - This entrant just hasn't looked fit lately.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:

Bet on #4 OPEN INTEREST to win if we can get at least 5/2 odds

# 5 HORSE NAME RED 5/1

# 10 LIL POM POM 7/2

# 8 SINGSUMTHINFORME 3/1

I've got to go with HORSE NAME RED. Has to be carefully examined based on the strong speed rating garnered in the last race. LIL POM POM - Oliveros has been sizzling the last month, winning at a nifty 18 percent rate. The average Equibase class figure of 53 makes this one hard to beat. SINGSUMTHINFORME - Is worth looking at and may be a bet - strong speed figures (58 average) at today's distance and surface lately. Always good to invest in a trainer with this kind of very good win percentage - 22 percent - at this distance & surface.

#3 MR. KISSES (ML=4/1)
#6 D T GOODIE (ML=5/1)

MR. KISSES - Gelding's last work was second fastest of the day for the distance. I wouldn't worry too much about the layoff; this gelding is ready to run today. When Navarro gives Ferrer a leg up on any magnificent animal, you sense that with their win percentage you have decidedly more than a fighting chance. Not much pace in this race other than this horse. This equine earns a lot of dough per start. Tops in this event. D T GOODIE - Trainer Machado moves this animal down in class ranks to face weaker company. Look for a sharp performance in this race. This jock and trainer have a positive return on investment when they partner up. Don't throw this thoroughbred out due to his last event at Parx Racing where he ended up sixth on an off track. Should improve this time around.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 MAXIMIAN (ML=5/2), #2 EDISTO BAY (ML=3/1), #7 MR. CHARLES (ML=9/2),

EDISTO BAY - This horse hasn't been near the victor at the finish recently. MR. CHARLES - Shins may have problems since they added wraps in the last event. Not likely that the speed figure he recorded on May 23rd will hold up in this affair.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:

Putting our cash on #3 MR. KISSES to win. Have to have odds of at least 9/5 or better though
